  • How Long does it take to walk the Kokoda track?

    The traditional Kokoda Expedition is 8 days on track, however, there is the fast Kokoda which is 6 Days on track. The quick the expedition the harder it is and the less environmental and village engaement.

  • How many Australian soldiers died on the Kokoda track?

    There are a range of sources that will indicate various figures, however, we do know over 600 Australians were killed on the Kokoda Track and approximately 1600 wounded.  

  • Where does the Kokoda track start and end?

    If you're after literal specifics, the actual Kokoda Track physically starts at the Village of Kokoda and ends at Owers Corner. However, the very narrow aspect of the track begins about two hours from the Village of Kokoda as the climb begins up to Deniki. 

  • Why is the Kokoda track so difficult?

    There are loads of reasons why the Kokoda Track is so difficult. It is situated in a very remote location within the Owen Stanley Range, the terrain is steep, dense, wet, muddy and relentless. Once you step onto the track you are at the mercy of some of the most biodiverse and prehistoric rainforest on earth. Eventually, the Japanese withdrew back towards the northern beaches fighting along the way.
